A significant severe weather event is underway for West Texas. A level 3 enhanced and level 4 moderate risk has been issued for the Permian Basin. An enhanced risk means that numerous severe thunderstorms are possible. A moderate risk means that widespread severe thunderstorms are possible.
The timing of severe weather is expected to be in 2 different rounds. The first round will occur between 3pm-9pm Monday afternoon and evening in the northern Permian Basin. The second round will occur between 1am-7am Tuesday morning across much of the Permian Basin.
The main risks with these storms will be very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes possible.
