As a cool front sags southward closer to the influx of Monsoonal moisture in The Basin, Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects widespread thunderstorms to lower high temperatures compared to the weekend. Before most of the storms form, temperatures will rise into the upper 80’s and 90’s for most areas as southeasterly winds will pick up. After the much-needed rain starts falling for many, winds will start to switch more from the east-northeast, cooling things off. As the frontal boundary sags to the southeast by tomorrow, leftover showers with some sunshine at time will be in store with muggy conditions still present across the region.

Despite some thin cloud coverage in western areas of The Basin this afternoon, Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips predicts there to be plenty of sunshine with above-normal temperatures in the upper 80’s and 90’s. Rain activity will be very few and far between today, but a few showers with rumbles of thunder are possible in far-western areas of The Trans Pecos late in the day. South-southeasterly winds will primarily dominate the region today, providing the uptick in temperatures but also, the lingering humidity. Sunnier and even slightly warmer air will be the bigger story later this week.

Muggy conditions will be the big story Basinwide, but conditions will slowly dry out later today as temperatures will reach the high 70’s, 80’s and lower 90’s for most communities. Easterly winds to start will provide the ample amount of moisture in the atmosphere, but southerly winds will creep back in later on to warm things up. More sunshine than clouds with higher temperatures will ensue for at least the next few days.

As a cool front sags to the southwest closer to West Texas, Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects the higher chance for thunderstorms with lower high temperatures. However, temperatures will still likely reach at least a few degrees above normal in the upper 80’s and 90’s for most communities. Southerly winds will provide the seasonably very warm conditions this afternoon, but easterly winds will pick up the humidity. A few strong thunderstorms will form in parts of The Basin, The Trans Pecos, and into The Rio Grande later today before slowly moving southeast while weakening through tomorrow morning. While some will still experience rainfall tomorrow, more areas will start to eventually become sunnier and less muggy.
