Cloudy skies, seasonably chilly air, high humidity, and less-intense east-northeasterly winds will be the big story across The Basin as Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects most rain activity to drift off the southeast of The Rio Grande later today. Temperatures will struggle to reach the upper 40’s, 50’s, and lower 60’s as the humidity will slowly drop throughout the day. While the atmosphere slowly stabilizes from top to bottom while slowly drying out, the low-level moisture in eastern areas of West Texas will stubbornly stick around. Lingering clouds with slightly below-normal temperatures will continue throughout at least the weekend.

Clouds this morning will give way to afternoon sunshine as Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects warmer and drier air to really kick in across The Basin at the cost of stronger southwesterly winds. Enough dry air this morning really hinder any rain development for most, if not all areas. Then, as the atmosphere dries out even more later in the day, temperatures will reach well above normal into the upper 60’s, 70’s, and even close to around 80 degrees for some. However, another weak low pressure system will form around West Texas but quickly move to the east tomorrow with not that many clouds and only slightly higher temperatures with slightly higher humidity in eastern areas.

Eastern areas of The Basin will experience a slight uptick in humidity with south-southeasterly winds, while areas west of The Pecos River Valley will remain dry with south-southwesterly winds. As the bands of clouds move quickly off the northeast through tomorrow, not only will clearer skies ensue, but warmer and drier air will really kick in at the cost of stronger southwesterly winds.

The City of Odessa will be hosting their annual Starbright Village tree lighting event this Thursday. City employees have been hard at work the past few months, setting up lights for families to enjoy the seasonal festivities.

The Midland Police Department is asking for help from the community to identify two suspects accused of breaking into a vehicle.

Three women were arrested late last month after investigators said they were allegedly caught trying to steal merchandise from Walmart. Yoselyn Cuellar Viltres, 26, Danelly Andrea Loaiza, 31, and Luisa Fernanda Molina, 30, have been charged with Theft of Property and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
