‘Pears for Pairs’ initiative aims to help the homeless community in the basin

ODESSA/MIDLAND, TEXAS (BIG 2 NEWS/FOX 24) – On Thursday, January 16th, the United Family will be donating 1,000 pairs of socks to the Salvation Army in Midland and Odessa.

From October through December of 2019, the United Family and Rainier fruit, teamed up for their ‘Pears for Pairs’ initiative. A portion of the proceeds from each pear purchased from Rainier Fruit, went to purchasing socks to donate to organizations that help the homeless community.

For those wanting to attend the event, the donation to the Salvation Army of Midland will take place on Thursday, January 16 at 10:00 A.M. at the Albertsons Market on County Road West. The donation to the Salvation Army of Odessa will take place Thursday, January 16 at 1:00 P.M. at the Albertsons Market on Andrews Highway.

A total of 5,000 pairs of socks will be donated to organizations in Amarillo, Midland/Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene and Wichita Falls.
