Odessa Realtors raising money for college students in the area

ODESSA, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24) – The Odessa Board of Realtors wants to make an impact on the lives of local college students.

CEO of Odessa Board of Realtors, Connie Coots, says its annual Christmas Tour of Homes has been going on for the past 26 years, and this tour has a deeper meaning to it.

“We started because there was such a need for scholarships in the Odessa area,” she says. “And we just wanted to provide that.”

The fundraiser all began with seeing the challenge of college students trying to pay for their tuition.

Donna Ittie, an advancement assistant of Odessa college, says the department is very fortunate to have the Odessa Realtors to give scholarships to the students.

“We’re very fortunate to have them work with us,” she says. “To do this, it’s beautiful.”

The scholarships will go toat least 7 students at each college in Odessa.

“We just feel like Odessa is just a great place to live,” Coots says. ” We just want to make sure to keep the students here. We think there’s a need, and we just love the colleges; we just wanted to make sure we provided the need here .”
