ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Dustin Fawcett stopped by to tell us about some road work staring in Andrews County this month.
A project to build an overpass to take Highway 176 over FM 1788 in eastern Andrews County is beginning this month.
In addition to the overpass and accompanying ramps, drainage work, overhead illumination and signage will be included in the project. The plan calls for a detour to be built in the area before work in the intersection begins. This will keep the impact on traffic at a minimum.
The speed limit will be reduced to 65 miles per hour in the work zone. Motorists are asked to obey all warning signs and any flaggers they encounter in the work zone.
The project is scheduled to take nearly two years to be completed.
Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving of Odessa won the project with a low bid of $14,337,020.89. The project is being funded by a federal safety program.
