TWO-A-DAYS: Marfa Shorthorns

The Marfa Shorthorns are gearing up for the 2020 season and hoping their increase in roster size will lead to a better record this season.

Marfa did not win a single district game last season, but had around 10 more players show up for practice this season compared to last.

“What we did last year was what we call the term turning the ship around and one of its key components was to bring more students out for football,” said head coach Arturo Alferez.

The Shorthorns will also have a little more experience this season, with four seniors returning for the 2020 season. One of those seniors is quarterback John Aguero.

“I’m trying to work with a lot of the younger guys…just help them move along and all that sort of stuff,” he said.
