Two-A-Days: Forsan Buffaloes

Two-A-Days

The Buffs enter this season with an itch to get into the postseason after not making it the last two years.

The last time Forsan made a playoff run was back in 2016 when the team made it all the way to the Regional Semifinal round. The team only won three games the following season, and just one last year.

“We didn’t have a very good year last year record-wise. We were in many games that we could have won if one or two plays go a different direction and I think that’s a big part of their desire right now,” said head coach Jason Phillips.

Senior Jonathon Gabehart said he would like to make it to the postseason his last year to prove to his team, community and the rest of the district the Buffaloes have the potential to make it.

“We’re predicted last in our district again and that’s not a surprise to our record, but if every game has a chance of winning, we’ve always put up a great fight,” he said.

In order to make a potential playoff run, Coach Phillips said he has changed a few things this year. He said the team has installed a completely new defense and is working to become more physical, which is a test since Forsan has a young roster.

“We have some youths, so we’re going to be playing some 15, 16-year-old kids against 17, 18-year-old kids and they’re just going to have to learn the physical part of the game that’s different from the JV level or Junior High level,” Phillips said.

Forsan opens the 2019 season against Coahoma.
