ODESSA, Tx – Odessa High is still waiting to play its first game of the season after Last Friday’s contest was canceled after a player tested positive for COVID-19.
Head coach Danny Servance said he learned of the positive case Thursday evening and Friday morning was spent contacting administration and health department officials before deciding to postpone the game. The Bronchos were set to open the season at home against Lubbock Monterey.
Now, Odessa High won’t play its first game until October 8. The Bronchos were set to play Del Rio in week two, but that game was canceled earlier after Del Rio postponed the start of its season.
In the meantime, Servance said the team is still practicing and preparing for that first game. He said more players will be tested Wednesday.
