BALMORHEA, Texas – After a nearly three-week delay, Balmorhea will finally get its chance to compete for a state title.
The Bears will face the Richland Springs Coyotes on Tuesday in the 1A, DII State Championship game.
The game was originally scheduled for December 16th. However, less than 48 hours before kickoff, the title match was postponed after a member of Balmorhea’s coaching staff tested positive for COVID-19.
Balmorhea will be making its third appearance in the State Championship, seeking to capture its first title.
Richland Springs, meanwhile, is no stranger to the big stage. The Coyotes have won a record eight UIL football state championships. That includes a win over Balmorhea in 2016.
The State Championship game will be played at San Angelo ISD Stadium, kicking off at 6:00 p.m.
