UTPB senior linebacker Chris Hoad was named the Lone Star Conference preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Hoad led the conference last season with 133 total tackles. He has compiled at least 100 tackles in his three years, and leads the NCAA with 369 tackles in his career.
Head Coach Justin Carrigan said no one is more deserving of the award.
“He is a tireless worker in every aspect of his life, and will continue to be recognized for his efforts for years to come. We’re thankful to have him in our locker room for one more season,” Carrigan said.
Hoad and the UTPB Falcons kick off the 2019 season on Sept. 7 at home.
