Klondike enjoyed successful season in 2018, finishing with 7 wins in the regular season. That, however, still wasn’t enough to qualify for the playoffs.
The Cougars missed out on the postseason, after going 2-2 in district. A week 10 loss to Grady (34-14) ultimately ended up cementing that fate.
This fall, Klondike returns more than two-thirds of its varsity roster from last season. The Cougars will once again be a young bunch.
“I’ve just been trying to give it my all this next year,” said Aaron Young, the team’s lone senior. “Try to leave it all on the field – that way I don’t have any regrets when I’m older.”
“I think we just can’t second guess ourselves,” Young said about his team. “Just run full steam ahead. If we make a mistake, make it 100 miles an hour.”
“We are pretty young, but a majority of them have varsity experience,” said head coach Dalton DeGraffenreid. “I think they’re ready to get out and finally have a starter role.”
