The Midland-Odessa Sockers kick off the postseason this Thursday at home against Dallas City FC.
The Sockers earned home-field advantage after winning the regular season conference title, and several of the players say that confidence gives them some momentum heading into playoffs.
“We knew it would give us the momentum to hopefully make a really deep run in the playoffs and reach our goals,” said defender Josiah Benjamin.
He said one of those goals was winning the conference regular season, but another is to make it to the final four of the postseason.
Goalkeeper Lukas Betz agreed that home-field advantage would be big for the team. He said the home crowds have been pretty big lately.
“I’m really excited,” he said, adding that playoff games provide a different experience and atmosphere than regular conference games.
That first conference semifinal match-up is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Grande Communications Stadium.
