Rankin aims to punch ticket to title game vs. defending state champs McLean

While 11-man teams compete in their Regional Finals this weekend, the stage is already being set for the six-man State Championship games.

On Saturday, the Rankin Red Devils (12-1, 3-0) will battle the defending state champion McLean Tigers (12-1, 3-0) at Frenship’s Peoples Bank Stadium in Wolfforth. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.

While the Tigers have been one of the teams to beat all year long, the Red Devils have commanded respect and attention throughout the season.

Rankin has picked up high-profile wins against teams including Garden City, Sterling City, Balmorhea, and Borden County.

The Red Devils offense has consistently presented quite the challenge for their opponents, scoring at least 54 points in each game.

Meanwhile, McLean not only boasts a recent championship. The Tigers also have plenty of talent, led by senior running back/linebacker Ben Crockett – someone many consider to be the best player in Texas for six-man football.

The winner of Saturday’s State Semifinal will advance to face the Blum Bobcats (12-2, 4-0) in the 1A, Division I State Championship game.
