ODESSA, Texas – For just the second time this season, the Odessa High Bronchos (0-1, 0-0) are slated to take the field on Friday night. OHS will return off yet another bye week to face its oldest rival – the Midland High Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1).
After having its original season-opener against Lubbock Monterey postponed to due a late positive test for COVID-19, Odessa High only managed to compete in one non-district game against Lubbock Coronado. The Mustangs, currently ranked 8th in Class 5A DII, defeated the Bronchos 49-0 in their week three matchup.
Meanwhile, Midland High has managed to fill out its schedule for each week to this point in the season. Odessa High head coach Danny Servance says one area that jumps out when scouting the Bulldogs is their overall team speed.
Friday night’s game will be a historic occasion for the rivalry, marking the 100th game between the two schools. Midland High, having won the last six contests, leads the all-time series 50-49.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium on Friday. Watch the video above for more!
