ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar) – The Odessa High Bronchos are ready to hit the field after having the first scheduled game of the year canceled due to a player testing positive for COVID-19.

The Bronchos tested 40 players on Wednesday of last week after exposure to the virus. According to Head Coach Servance, none of the players tested positive.

The Bronchos will take on Lubbock Coronado and their superstar quarterback Sawyer Robertson, a Mississippi State commit and 4 star recruit, Thursday at Lowrey Field in Lubbock.

Coach Servance has a respect for Coronado coach Seth Parr. The two coached against each other while Servance was a coach at Lubbock Estacado.

He says the biggest improvement he has seen from the Mustangs is the defense.

The Mustangs are set to take on the Bronchos in the battle of the ponies, 7 PM Thursday at Lubbock’s Lowrey Field.
