ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – No. 8 Odessa College volleyball is officially headed to the NJCAA D1 National Tournament with their 3-2 win over the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds in the Region V Tournament Consolation game.

This is the third time in program history that the Wranglers have made it to the national tournament. In 2021, the Wranglers entered as the No. 2 seed and were defeated in the quarterfinals. The year before in 2019, seven-seed Odessa College was beaten in the opening round.

The Wranglers have spent the entirety of the 2023 regular season ranked in the national top 10, peaking at No. 3 in Week Five. Odessa College went 24-7 in the regular season, finishing third in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, behind only No. 5 ranked New Mexico Military Institute and No. 9 ranked New Mexico Junior College.

Both Odessa and Weatherford College will represent Region V at the national tournament.

The bracket is expected to be revealed this week. The tournament takes place Nov. 15-18 at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
