Midland Lee preparing for El Paso Montwood rematch

MIDLAND, Texas – The Midland Lee Rebels will begin their 6A, DI playoff journey against a familiar opponent on Friday.

The Rebs will match-up with the El Paso Montwood Rams. Lee has played Montwood in each of the last two seasons, winning on all three occasions.

The Rebels easily dispatched the Rams in 2018 (42-6) and again during the 2019 regular season (72-6). Lee and Montwood met up once more in the 2019 playoffs in another first-round matchup.

The Rams kept that game somewhat competitive early on, before the Rebels pulled away with a 65-32 victory.

This season, Midland Lee enters the playoffs as the District 2-6A co-champion along with Permian (although MOJO holds the head-to-head tiebreaker).

A win would put the Rebels into the Area Round of the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, where they would face either Euless Trinity or Fort Worth Timber Creek.

Friday’s game vs. El Paso Montwood kicks off at 6:00 PM (CT) from Grande Communications Stadium in Midland.
