WINK, Tx – The Wink Wildcats are a few weeks into their summer workout programs and starting to get used to workouts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like most programs, the Wildcats are practicing social distancing during workouts and have split both boys and girls up into two groups. Student-athletes are also required to sign statements at the beginning of each week stating they have not experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 nor been in contact with any active cases.
“It’s like more of a habit now with all the precautions,” said senior Junior Quiroz.
Senior Nechemjah Torres said the student-athletes will often pick out their own weights, use them the entire day and then disinfect them afterward. Sophomore Kanon Gibson said equipment is also disinfected after sets otherwise.
Junior Mac Payne said he has been impressed with how the coaches have organized workouts to keep the athletes and teams safe.
