The West Texas Warbirds were supposed to play their first home game at Ector County Coliseum this Saturday but moved the date to April 4.
Owner and general manager Leif Kertis said the team is postponing the game because of a delay in receiving some necessary equipment and jerseys.
The Warbirds will now play their home opener on April 4 against the Omaha Beef. The team’s first game will be on the road in Amarillo on March 29.
Head coach Marcus Coleman said it doesn’t really matter to him that the team is starting the season on the road.
“Here’s the thing: it doesn’t matter where you play. We could play in a volcano in the middle of a jungle. You still got to show up and play. That’s the thing. So it doesn’t matter where you go. It doesn’t matter how you get there. At the end of the day, when it’s time to play, we all have to be professional and do our job,” Coleman said.
