UTPB lost three out of four games in this last road stint to fall to 3-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Falcons defeated Texas A&M – Kingsville (48-43) and lost to Texas A&M International (80-70), Angelo State (74-45) and Lubbock Christian (94-49)
Head Coach Rae Boothe said injuries helped contribute to the losses, but they are not an excuse. Many of UTPB’s freshmen had to step up in the last couple of weeks, and while Boothe said she is glad for the experience they’re getting, she wants her team back to full health.
“I think our freshmen are promising but they’re still freshmen. And when we have four…maybe all five of them out there being freshmen, they lack the experience,” Boothe said.
Boothe also mentioned the freshmen still aren’t quite familiar with the teams in the conference.
“They don’t know who Lubbock Christian is. They don’t know that they’re the best team in the country right now. They haven’t lost a home game in years. And so they can hear it, but they still don’t understand it,” she said.
UTPB is back at home for its next two conference games this week. The Falcons host West Texas A&M this Thursday and Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
