The UTPB Football team lost its first game Saturday evening against No. 16 Midwestern State.

The Falcons are now 2-1 on the year, and 0-1 in Lone Star Conference play. Despite the loss, head coach Justin Carrigan said he was very impressed with the defense. The Falcons held the Mustangs to just 14 points, with 14 to 8 being the final.

Carrigan said it was the offense that did not quite click on Saturday. He said it was frustrating not to see the same explosive offense the Falcons had displayed in the first two games of the season.

But the Falcons have another chance to prove themselves against a ranked opponent. UTPB hosts No. 4 Tarleton State at home Saturday, Sept. 28.

The game will be played at Ratliff Stadium and starts at 7 p.m.
