UTPB RECAP: Falcons hit a roadblock on road trip

Local Sports

UTPB men’s basketball hit the road for four games the last couple of weeks and won just one of the four.

The Falcons defeated Texas A&M – International but lost out to Texas A&M Kingsville, Angelo State and Lubbock Christian.

Despite several close games, head coach Josh Newman said the biggest struggle with the team right now is becoming familiar with the conference opponents. The Lone Star Conference added several new teams to the conference this season. In addition, many players on UTPB’s team are new to UTPB, as well.

“The hardest thing that we’re having with our team is that we have so many new guys, they don’t know what to expect. You talk about Angelo, you talk about West Texas, these guys have no idea because a year ago they were playing Nevada or South Dakota State or Providence, you name it with so many transfers,” Newman said.

UTPB is back at home for a couple of Lone Star Conference games starting this Thursday against West Texas A&M.
