UTPB PREVIEW: Falcons’ defense must be on A-game against St. Edwards

Local Sports

ODESSA, Tx (ABC Big 2/Fox 24) – The UTPB Men’s Basketball Team is facing another ranked opponent yet again.

The Falcons hit the road to face No. 13 St. Edwards Thursday, and head coach Josh Newman said his team must play some solid defense to be successful against the Hilltoppers.

“They’re probably one of the teams in the League that executes their offense better than anybody else. They’ve got a plethora of sets. They’ll have the first 10 or 15 plays already scripted. So it’s not about taking away their sets…it’s about taking away their patterns. And so what we want to do is disrupt their offense,” Newman said.

UTPB is currently trying to snap a five-game losing streak. The Falcons are currently 6-5.

The UTPB women’s team will tip-off against St. Edwards at 3 p.m. Thursday, followed by the men at 5:30.
