UTPB Football postpones season opener due to inclement weather; moves home games to Midland

ODESSA, Tx (ABC Big 2/Fox 24) – UTPB Athletic Director Todd Dooley made two major announcements Wednesday morning.

The Falcons’ season and home opener against Southern Nazarene has been postponed from this Saturday to next Saturday, Feb. 27. Dooley said both schools made the decision in regards to the wintry weather this week and the Falcons’ inability to practice because of it.

Dooley also announced the Falcons will now play all of their home games at Grande Communications Stadium rather than Ratliff Stadium. The decision was made after recognizing Ratliff as a major COVID-19 vaccination site. Dooley said the program does not want to impede on those efforts.

UTPB currently has three home games on the schedule. The final scheduled game of the year against Midwestern State was already scheduled to be played in Midland.
