After a 14-month battle with Stage IV ovarian cancer, former Texas Tech guard Noel Johnson died Tuesday morning.
The former Lady Raider spent the last 12 years as the head women’s basketball coach at Midwestern State. Johnson became the winningest coach in program history in 2017.
Johnson played all four years at Texas Tech. The point guard helped lead the Lady Raiders to their 1993 National Championship win. Texas Tech also won the Southwest Conference title all four years Johnson played with the Lady Raiders.
The point guard was lights-out from behind the arc, shooting 41.1 percent career three-pointers and knocking down 51.1 percent of her three-point attempts her final season with Texas Tech. She holds the single-season best three-point percentage in program history.
