While most seniors across the country are facing the fact they may not return to school for their final seasons, one Permian senior has already faced that reality.
Permian senior gymnast Bridgett Pando’s season came to an end mid-February after tearing her ACL, medial meniscus and lateral meniscus. Pando said the injury had “brought her down” initially.
“…competing for Permian and trying to place higher and higher each year was a main goal,” Pando said.
The senior has competed on Permian’s varsity team all four years of her high school career and placed in the state championships her sophomore and junior seasons. Pando said she felt she was on pace to place higher this season that ever before.
But in light of the reason suspensions due to COVID-19, Pando has used her season-ending experience for good. While she may not be on the team anymore, Pando has been able to comfort her teammates while they face potentially the end of their seasons, as well.
“Even though I can’t do anything for them like I’m still a part of the team. The energy that I have can be put on to them,” she said.
