Coahoma seniors Jonathon and Zack Schneider spent the fall playing football with one another.

They’ll get to play football with each other again next year in college. But it may be the last time they play high school spring sports together.

Both Schneider brothers are on Coahoma’s track and field team and baseball team. Jonathon steps in as DH, while Zack plays centerfield. He was batting a solid .650 before the season got suspended.

Like many seniors (and most athletes, in general) the Schneider brothers are still coping with the suspension of spring sports. The UIL suspended all competition and practice until early May in response to COVID-19.

“It hurts because we’ve grown up around each other and to not be able to play your last sports as a team…it hurts,” Jonathon said.

Both Schneiders even went as far to say they not only missed sports, but missed school, as well.

Prior to the suspension, the Coahoma baseball team was 7-1-1. Head Coach Christopher Arista said he hopes the suspension lifts in time for teams to at least play a condensed postseason.
