Rockhounds postpone “Senior Series” baseball tournament

The “Senior Series” baseball tournament, set for July 24 and 25, has been postponed due to concerns over COVID-19.

The series was a round robin tournament for area seniors.

General manager Monty Hoppel made the announcement in response to the rise in cases in the Permian Basin. Though the organization has not set a date yet, Hoppel said they are hoping to reschedule at some point.

“Ever since the RockHounds minor league season was canceled we have been looking for events to host at the ballpark and this tournament was our first
idea,” Hoppel said in a press release. “We really wanted to give graduating seniors the opportunity to take field one last time in their high school careers.”
