Odessa High has resumed its summer workout programs this week following a two-week suspension.
The suspension came after a student-athlete tested positive for COVID-19. Following the dead period, Odessa High has added a few additional precautions to keep students safe and healthy. The UIL already laid out several requirements and guidelines for schools to follow in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
Head football coach Danny Servance said there is now an additional screening site for athletes to use prior to workouts. Masks are also now a requirement if athletes are indoors or within six feet of another athlete. The teams have split into multiple groups to encourage social distancing.
He said while he is excited to get back to work, making sure the students are safe is the number one priority. Servance and his team are preparing for a different kind of football season this year, and hoping for the best.
