Midland High’s Coach Hooker announces retirement

Local Sports

Midland High’s head boys basketball coach Shannon Hooker announced he will retire following this school year.

Hooker spent 34 seasons coaching the game, including 23 as a head coach. During that time, he compiled a record of 465-233. He coached at schools across the state, spending his last few seasons as the head coach at Midland High.

Hooker said the impact he has had on his former players and coaches has been the best thing about his career as a coach.

“It’s been positive and it feels good to see that you do make a bit a difference in these kids’ lives,” he said.

Hooker said he will miss the coaching community the most, however.
