Former Midland College guard Grace Beasley announced she will play at the University of Washington this season, but her recruitment process was a bit unconventional.
Beasley said she has not been to Washington’s campus yet and all of her contact with Washington’s program was done virtually.
“It’s hard doing virtual FaceTimes and tours and things like that to sort of get a feel for people and what their program’s about, but I feel with Washington, I could tell straight away they were about family,” Beasley said.
The guard said she is confident in her decision, and said Washington’s “family” atmosphere was the primary reason she chose the school.
“I could tell straight away that they were about family and that’s probably one of the biggest things that did stick out to me.”
Beasley said right now the team is holding zoom meetings once a week, and several the of players have started doing workouts and drills. Because of the pandemic, Beasley said she might not be able to travel to Washington until September.
