ECISD superintendent Dr. Scott Muri gave an update on high school extra-curricular activities and how the district plans to respond should they continue this fall.
The UIL has already given schools the green light to start strength and conditioning programs on June 8. Programs must follow a few new rules set forth by the UIL and follow the regulations given by the CDC and local governments.
However, the League has not provided an update on fall sports and when/if they will be played, yet. Muri said the district is monitoring the situation.
“It’s too early right now to even know…We anticipate returning to close to some sort of normalcy, at least for the kids,” he said.
Muri also said the district is anticipating some sort of social distancing for spectators at sporting events.
“Fortunately we have a very big stadium. That’s certainly a benefit in a situation like this,” he said.
The superintendent said the district will continue to look to guidance from the state of Texas and the UIL, specifically.
