Permian made a big comeback Tuesday evening and defeated Frenship 46-45, making a bucket as time expired.
The Panthers were down by 17 points at the end of the first half and managed to tie the game back up at 33 going into the fourth quarter. Both teams got into foul trouble toward the end of the game.
Permian’s Jase Taylor knocked down one of two free throws to put MOJO up 44-43. With 12 seconds left, Permian committed a foul and sent Jastyn Garrett to the line for Frenship. Garrett hit both free throws to put Frenship up 45-44.
With 2.86 seconds left, Permian got the ball back. Permian was able to advance the ball to halfcourt before Frenship knocked it out-of-bounds. With less than two seconds left, the ball was thrown into Shy Stephens-Deary, who laid it in as time expired to give Permian the 46-45 win.
The Panthers maintain their perfect record in district play and lead District 2-6a.
