Justus Parker said failed drug test resulted in suspension

Today former Texas Tech defensive back Justus Parker announced on Twitter that his NCAA-imposed one-year suspension is a result of a failed drug test.

Parker said it was a banned substance that he had been using to try and gain weight during his transition into a linebacker position.

Texas Tech Head Coach Matt Wells announced the suspension yesterday at Big 12 Media Days. The suspension will essentially end Parker’s career with Texas Tech, who is a senior this year.
