Texas Tech junior Josh Jung has agreed to a deal with the Texas Rangers, the team announced on Wednesday.
Jung was selected by Texas with the eighth overall pick in last month’s MLB draft.
As part of his contract, the third baseman will receive a $4.4 million signing bonus – slightly less than the $5.18 million value assigned to his draft slot.
The San Antonio native was a starter throughout each of his three seasons with the Red Raiders. This past season, the team made its second-consecutive trip to the College World Series in Omaha.
