The Dallas Cowboys’ training camp is just a few weeks away, and linebacker Jaylon Smith has confidence going into this season.
Dallas has already released a tentative schedule for training camp in Oxnard, CA and the first practice is set to start July 27.
The Cowboys finished last season 10-6 and at the top of the AFC East. But it did not look like Dallas would finish with that record at the start of the 2018-19 season. The Cowboys started off the year with a 3-5 record.
Smith said something started to click within the team after such a rough start.
“We understand our identity now,” the Cowboys linebacker said.
After struggling through injuries at the beginning of his career, Smith was a defensive force for the Boys this year. Smith said the team started to find its mojo toward the end of the season last year.
“We know we’re going to be a hard-nosed team that’s going to run the football and open up plays for Dak…and on defense…we’re a team that stops the run,” he said.
The Cowboys open up the season against the Giants on September 8.
