Former Texas Tech guard Zhaire Smith helped lead the Philadelphia 76ers to victory Friday afternoon.
Smith compiled 10 points, five assists and three rebounds in the Sixers’ 107-106 victory over the Bucks. The game was part of the NBA Summer League – Las Vegas games.
Smith’s performance showed just how much the former Red Raider has come since last year’s debut season with the Sixers. The guard only played six regular season games last year after experiencing multiple health-related setbacks.
Smith fractured his foot in August, and was expected to return to the team in December. However, he then experienced a severe allergic reaction that reportedly threatened his life.
The 2018 16th-overall pick did not play his first NBA game until March.
Now fans can see him in his former Texas Tech glory during the NBA summer games. Smith is back in action with the 76ers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
He is joined in Las Vegas by several other former Red Raiders, as well. Jarrett Culver (Minnesota Timberwolves), Keenan Evans (Memphis Grizzlies) and Matt Mooney (Atlanta Hawks) will all be participating in the games.
