When the Tennessee Titans take the field Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team will have a new starting quarterback.
Ryan Tannehill, the former standout at Big Spring and Texas A&M, was promoted by Titans head coach Mike Vrabel earlier this week. He will take over for the former Heisman Trophy winner, Marcus Mariota.
Tannehill is in the midst of his first season with Tennessee. He spent the first seven years of his career with Miami Dolphins, who selected him with the 8th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
The 31-year-old will have a chance to bring the Titans into playoff contention. Currently, Tennessee’s record sits at 2-4 – two games behind the Houston Texans for the lead in the AFC South.
