ODESSA, TEXAS (Big 2/ Fox 24)- For YMCA Membership Director, Desirea Brito, making sure kids have a safe and fun place to go on spring break is important.
“I think it’s a great thing to have somewhere safe to have somewhere that we are about community, we’re about families and so it’s just another outlet that families can utilize if they’re looking for something like that.”
As a mother, she says she understands how challenging it can be to find a safe space for your children during school breaks. Making the YMCA’s long hours of operation from 5 am to midnight an ideal place for kids who have downtime.
“I think it’s very important I know as a mom of two my girls are little and I’m very blessed to bring them to work with me but I think about the working family so they have to continue to go to work, they don’t get spring break off.”
According to Brito, they have activities available for kids of all ages and the best part is that it’s only five dollars a day.
“What we’ve done is we’ve created an activity like a craft, or painting or something like that and then we also are doing like a healthy snack and it’s like today they’re even creating a little bread with Nutella and they’re creating like a face so it makes like a little bear. Just some fun little activities that we can do to kind of bring in the crowd and have something fun to do. The camp counselors that are available today, that are working today, are also a part of the camp counselors that run the summer program and we’re all CPR certified and have all of that.”
