A clerical error resulted in the Odessa Police Department releasing three suspects who were detained while executing a search warrant back on Jan. 29.

OPD officials say they are received a tip about drugs being sold out of a hotel room located at 3023 E. Highway 80 room #226.

A search warrant was then issued however, police officials say they wrong room number was written on the warrant.

Room number 225 was “accidentally” marked on the warrant and when the search was conducted, police officials say that room was vacant.

The OPD SWAT team then entered room 226 at the hotel and found three suspect with a handgun, fraudulent checks and about 1.2 grams of methamphetamine, according to a release from police.

The suspects, Anna Garcia, Willie Morris and Cindy Barrett, were all arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Police say Garcia and Berrett were also charged with multiple counts of forgery.

However, because the search warrant had the incorrect room number, all charges against Garcia, Morris and Barrett have been dropped and all three have been released, according to police.

Odessa Police officials say they are conducting an investigation regarding the error.
