West Texas Reality TV Stars Get Involved with Harvey Relief

Even though damage from Hurricane Harvey is hundreds of miles away, that’s not stopping West Texans from helping out.

And that includes the local celebrities.

“Lets do something to help people in need. We are Texans we got to do something,” says Butch Gilliam, a reality TV Star based in the Permian Basin.

The self-made West Texas personas of Rooster McConaughey and Butch Gilliam are throwing their hats into the donation ring. The duo will be partnering with the Midland Rockhounds to help the American Red Cross.

“We decided to just join them, and see if we could get all the people from Texas to come together and do something for our own,” says McConaughey.

The fundraiser is going to be held outside the Rockhounds Stadium, and it will feature a number of attractions including a dunk booth and a kissing booth.

“It’s time for us to get wet isn’t it, see what it feels like,” says McConaughey. “I don’t think it’s going to feel as bad as they feel. It’s sort of doing it honor of the people down there.”

Both men emphasized that even during busy times in their lives, it is vital to see what’s truly important.

“We’re Texans, and it’s important to us to take time out and put everything aside,” says Gilliam. “We’d like to invite the people out, and the businesses out, to come out and help us raise money to help the American Red Cross.”

The fundraiser starts Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
