West Texans weigh in on virtual National Conventions

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Democratic Party wrapped up their Convention last week and the Republican Party wrapped up their’s this Thursday. We spoke to West Texans on both sides of the aisle to see what they thought about the digital platform.

Hannah Horick, the Ector Democratic Chair said, “For those of us like me who had really busy weeks last week I loved that I can go back and check in on some of the speeches that I missed or rewatched stuff that I really really loved. Find those moments again and again and I really appreciate them.”

Tisha Crow, the Ector Republican Chair said, “It was probably easier for the average person to locate it on Facebook as you say or somewhere but since we have gone so much more digital right now it’s relatively easy to find almost anything at any time.”

According to Horick, it was the messages of unity, overcoming civil unrest, and COVID-19 that gave her hope while watching the Democratic National Convention.

“I’m hoping there are more people that can identify with that ticket as it’s been diversified and as we have a woman on the ticket that for me is very exciting. For Joe, I was really pleasantly surprised he was very presidential he really just had his message locked in,” she said.

Crow said although most of it was virtual she felt that same level of energy as years past because the president did address a crowd at the white house on the final night.

“It was exciting, it was positive, everything that RNC, everyone who spoke they had something positive to say instead of negative,” she said.
