ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – While the investigation will likely continue for weeks, tonight we take a look back at the tragedy that befell the community of Odessa.

On Saturday, August 31, our community changed forever as a man took the lives of seven and injured more than 20 others.

What the shooter was not able to take, was our resolve, our strength and our sense of community.

Before official reports came down from law enforcement, residents of Midland and Odessa rallied with GoFundMe pages, water and food for first responders and an uplifting spirit that has guided many through one of our most challenging moments as a community.

Tonight, we remember those who lost their lives and support those who were injured.

Tonight we celebrate our outstanding community and each person in it as we remember that together we are better and together, we will heal.
