UTPB Struggling To Convert Third Season Victory

The UTPB football program is once again in danger of finishing with its third straight two-win season.

The team has finished 2-9 in each of its two previous season and now sits at 2-7 (1-5).

One area of struggle fot the offense has been third-down conversions. For the season, the Falcons have been successful on 28 percent of their attempts. In Saturday’s 24-7 loss to Eastern New Mexico, UTPB converted 4-16 third-down opportunities.

Knowing they would have to defend the Greyhounds triple-option offense, the Falcons took several chances throughout the game on both offense and special teams. UTPB started the game with an onside kick and attempted nine fourth-down conversions. They were successful on four of those tries.
