UPDATE: One killed in Midland County crash

We are learning more about the incident that occurred in Midland County Tuesday afternoon. 

According to Midland County Fire Marshal, Dale Little, two 18-wheelers collided. One of the 18-wheelers involved caught fire. 

One person was killed and another was taken to a lubbock area hospital following the collision.

Officials say the crash occurred in the 7800 block of FM 1788 near West County Road 160.

Little said initially it was reported as a tank battery fire. However, Little says no tank batteries were involved and the fire was the result of a crash. 


According to Sheriff Gary Painter with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, one person has been slightly injured in a tank battery fire Tuesday.

We’re told the incident took place at the 7800 block of F.M. 1788 near West County Road 160 in Midland.

The Sheriff’s office is responding to the incident, according to Sheriff Gary Painter.
