United Supermarket set to open in Pecos

PECOS, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The City of Pecos is welcoming a new grocery store.

On Wednesday, the newest United Supermarket will open its doors to the Pecos community.

The 44,000 square foot store includes a pharmacy with a drive-thru, bakery, sushi bar and other food services with a dining area.

“I feel excited. Like I said earlier, it’s been two months without being in the store. I can’t wait. Six o’clock can’t come soon enough,” said Store Director Sergio Aguillon.

Aguillon says the community is excited to have its first grocery store in 50 years. Aguillon and others had to travel to Odessa or El Paso to grocery shop.

“I had to live through that for two months,” said Aguillon.

The store hired more than 200 employees right off the bat.

Mayor David Flores is excited for his community.

“It means people have more to chose from. They will have the ability to go and buy what they need when they need it. It’s not a matter that we have one store, two stores, it’s a variety,” said Flores.

United will also be opening a convenience store with 12 fueling stations just across the grocery store. Both stores will open at 6 a.m.
