UIL makes changes to athletic policies

The University Interscholastic League Legislative Council met Tuesday and made several changes to athletic and academic policy.

Highlighted below are a few of the bigger changes the UIL made today:

1. The new Soccer Plan changes the start date for soccer teams to play scrimmages. Teams can now scrimmage ten days after their first practice.

2. The amendment to Invitational Track and Field Meets now allows athletes to participate in invitational track meets during the school week. Under the current law. students were not allowed to miss any school time, even for travel.

3. Another change comes out of the Non-school Participation section. High schoolers in their second, third and fourth year of high school will be eligible to participate in two summer camps per sport. Prior to the change, athletes could only participate in one.
