PECOS COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Texas Department of Transportation will soon begin work to replace a bridge near Iraan over the Pecos River.
Officials say the $2.9 million project will begin in the coming weeks and aims to replace the bridge on US 190. Construction barricades will be set up this month and demolition will begin sometime later.
During the construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane across the bridge and a portable traffic signal will be put in place. Additionally, officials say, a 12-foot width restriction will also be in place.
TxDOT officials say the bridge was originally built back in 1961 but has suffered from increased heavy loads that cross daily.
