Two people have been hospitalized following a bee attack in Hobbs. 

Officials say the Hobbs Fire Department were called to the attack at 7:35 a.m. June 1 in the 1000 block of Leech. 

At the scene, crews noticed, “bees swarming everywhere,” according to a release. 

City officials say they one of the victims was mowing the lawn near an abandoned building and disturbed the hive in the walls of the building causing the bees to swarm and attack. 

A second victim reportedly tried to stop the bees byt spraying the other victim with a hose. 

The Fire Department then arrived at the scene and established a safe zone before incapacitating the bees with foam, according to a release. 

Both victims were later transported to Lea Regional Medical Center.
